Undirected Wounding
Undirected Wounding (also called indirect wounding) is an informal term for abilities that place wounds, but on character(s) of your opponent's choice. Abilities phrased like "the (opposing alignment) player must wound a character" are undirected wounding. Archery and wounds caused by threats are the usual sources of undirected wounding, but many other cards have a similar effect, like Isenorcs, Éowyn, Lady of Ithilien (10R72)
, and Gothmog, Lieutenant of Morgul (10R88)
.
Undirected wounding contrasts with direct wounding, where you choose which of your opponent's characters you want to wound. Direct wounding strategies are often combined with undirected wounding, however, to help wear down your opponent's characters.
