Side is an informal game term. The game has two sides: Free Peoples and Shadow. Side can also be synonymous with "deck" in a limited context: your Free Peoples deck or Free Peoples side is all of the Free Peoples cards in your deck, but not your sites or your Shadow cards.
Each side of your deck has to have the same number of cards before the game starts.
