Sanctuaries from Fellowship Block represent the havens of Rivendell and Lothlorien, last magical bastions of the Elves․ Later blocks․․․didn't fit quite so well․

Sanctuary is a loaded keyword applying to all Sites in position 3 or 6 on the Adventure Path. Fellowships which stop at a sanctuary during the Regroup Phase reap the benefits by healing up to 5 Wounds at the start of their next Fellowship Phase.

All Sanctuaries printed during the Movie Block era include the Sanctuary keyword, and also use a grey template rather than the usual tan one. Beginning with the Shadows era, any site could go in any position, so the grey template was discontinued and the keyword was considered to be automatically attached to any site 3 or 6.

Rules Entries[edit]

A sanctuary is any site 3 or site 6 on the adventure path. Sites preceding the Shadows expansion set mark this with a keyword.

At the start of your turn when your fellowship is at a sanctuary, you may heal up to 5 wounds from your companions (not allies). (See healing.)

You may choose to heal 5 different companions once, or one companion twice and another three times, or any other combination. You don’t have to heal any wounds at all – you may choose any number from zero to 5.

Dimrill Dale (1U350) Site Site Sanctuary. The twilight cost of the first Orc played each Shadow phase is -2.
Galadriel's Glade (1C351) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: Exert an Elf to look at an opponent’s hand.
Lothlórien Woods (1U352) Site Site Forest. Sanctuary. Each ally whose home is site 6 is strength +3.
Valley of the Silverlode (2U120) Site Site River. Sanctuary. When the fellowship moves to Valley of the Silverlode, each Hobbit companion may heal.
Caras Galadhon (3U115) Site Site Forest. Sanctuary. While the fellowship is at Caras Galadhon, no more than one minion may be assigned to each skirmish.
House of Elrond (3U119) Site Site Sanctuary. When the fellowship moves to House of Elrond, the Free Peoples player may spot 2 Elves to remove a burden.
Barrows of Edoras (4U337) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: Place your hand beneath your draw deck and draw 4 cards.
Golden Hall (4U338) Site Site Sanctuary. When the fellowship moves to Golden Hall, all Free Peoples weapons must be discarded.
Stables (4U339) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: Exert a Man to play a mount from your draw deck (limit once per turn).
Streets of Edoras (4U340) Site Site Sanctuary. Each ally may not participate in archery fire or skirmishes at Streets of Edoras.
Throne Room (4U341) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: Play Théoden from your draw deck.
Westemnet Plains (4U342) Site Site Plains. Sanctuary. Each Man may not take wounds during the archery phase.
Caves of Aglarond (4U352) Site Site Underground. Sanctuary. Maneuver: Remove to make one of your Uruk-hai fierce until the regroup phase.
Great Hall (4U353) Site Site Sanctuary. Battleground.Each ally may participate in archery fire and skirmishes at Great Hall.
Hornburg Armory (4U354) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: Play a possession to draw a card.
Meduseld (6U117) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: Exert 3 companions with the Gandalf signet to play an unbound companion from your dead pile.
Hornburg Hall (6U118) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: Spot 3 companions with the Théoden signet and discard your hand to draw 4 cards.
Beacon of Minas Tirith (7U338) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: If you cannot spot 3 threats, add a threat to heal a companion.
Hall of the Kings (7U339) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: If you cannot spot 3 threats, add a threat to draw a card.
Tower of Ecthelion (7U340) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: If you cannot spot 3 threats, add 3 threats to make the move limit for this turn +1.
Minas Tirith Fifth Circle (7U346) Site Site Sanctuary. If the fellowship moves from this site during the regroup phase, heal Gandalf three times.
Minas Tirith First Circle (7U347) Site Site Sanctuary. If the fellowship moves from this site during the regroup phase, wound each companion.
Minas Tirith Fourth Circle (7U348) Site Site Sanctuary. If the fellowship moves from this site during the regroup phase, heal each companion.

The Dimholt (8U117) Site Site Sanctuary. Underground. Fellowship: Add 3 threats to play an enduring companion from your draw deck.
Base of Mindolluin (10U117) Site Site Sanctuary. Fellowship: If you cannot spot 2 threats, add a threat to play a fortification from your draw deck.
Rivendell Gateway (V1_59) Site Site Forest. Sanctuary. Fellowship: Exert a companion to make one of another culture strength +1 until the end of the turn (limit +6).
Lorien Throne Room (V1_61) Site Site Forest. Sanctuary. Each time a companion exerts here, you may exert an ally to heal that companion.

While at a sanctuary, bearer cannot heal.

Imladris (17U147) Site Site River. When the fellowship moves to this site, if it is a sanctuary, remove 2 burdens.
Rath Dínen (V0_1) Site Site When sanctuary healing at this site, the Free Peoples player heals only 3 wounds instead of 5.
