Saruman is the classic mastermind lurking in the shadows, never revealing himself until too late․

Lurker is a Loaded Keyword first released in the Shadows set that modifies the order in which skirmishes must be resolved. All non-lurker minions must have their skirmishes resolved before skirmishes involving lurkers may occur.

Lurkers will usually, but not always, have some sort of special ability that can be used to pump other minions up; this keyword thus ensures that they cannot be easily sniped in the first skirmish to prevent using such abilities.

Rules Entries[edit]

During the skirmish phase(s), the Free Peoples player must resolve all skirmishes involving minions who do not have the lurker keyword before he may choose to resolve any skirmishes involving one or more minions who do have it.

Easterling Shield Wall (11C76) Men Minion • Man Lurker. (Skirmishes involving lurker minions must be resolved after any others.)

Response: If a minion is about to take a wound in a skirmish, exert this minion and remove to prevent that.

Rampaging Easterling (11C98) Men Minion • Man Lurker. (Skirmishes involving lurker minions must be resolved after any others.) Each time another minion wins a skirmish, make this minion strength +3 until the regroup phase.
Gríma, Betrayer of Rohan (12R68) Men Minion • Man Lurker. (Skirmishes involving lurker minions must be resolved after any others.)

Each time a companion loses a skirmish involving a minion, you may exert Gríma to exert a companion.

Each time a Free Peoples character is killed, you may spot another minion to exert each companion.

Emboldened Orc (11R119) Orc Minion • Orc Lurker. (Skirmishes involving lurker minions must be resolved after any others.) This minion is strength +1 for each companion who is not assigned to a skirmish.

Each time an minion is killed in a skirmish, you may make this minion strength +2 until the regroup phase.

Response: If another minion is about to take a wound, exert this minion to prevent that.
