Strategy[edit]

Stewards' Legacy is a versatile and powerful Gondor condition. Giving three effects for three different characters in one card is only matched by its sister condition, Kings’ Legacy (13U72) .

The first ability is the weakest, though it has its uses. It is most easily triggered by Denethor, Lord of Minas Tirith (10R28) when he exerts to fetch a Gondor card. However, he usually is killed off quickly at site four, and is merely a setup companion.

The second ability is the most difficult to trigger, as there are no copies of Boromir that self-exert. However, there is synergy with Boromir, Defender of Minas Tirith (3P122) and his self-healing ability.

The most powerful and easy effect to trigger (at least in Expanded) is the one involving Faramir. It serves as an easy counter to hate minions like Úlairë Enquëa, Lieutenant of Morgul (1U231) , Gríma, Wormtongue (4R154) , or Southron Leader (7R166) . The best version of Faramir for this task is Faramir, Captain of Ithilien (18R48) .

An easy solution to the problem of getting exertions is followers. Elendil's Army (18R47) and Pallando, Far-travelling One (13R37) are both exert givers and solid cards. Dínendal, Mirkwood Archer (15R12) meshes very well with the effect from exerting Boromir, and makes a good combo in an archery deck.

Stewards' Legacy also fits very well in a Madril, Defender of Osgiliath (15R64) and Ithilien Blade (15C62) deck. Ithilien Blade can easily provide triggers for all three abilities, and discard minions on top of it. In addition, Ithilien Blade is a solid splash weapon for an early-game trigger, or to take out a common threat to archery decks, {{Card|Shelob, Her Ladyship.
