Worlds 2005
Worlds 2005 was the fourth World Championship for the Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game. It was ran by Decipher at GenCon Indy in Indianapolis, Indiana, from Thursday, August 18 to Sunday, August 21, 2005[1]. Kyle George became World Champion, with Lee Clarke of Australia the runner-up[2][3].
Format[edit]
This article lists the format as War of the Ring Standard, but none of the archived Decipher or DGMA pages found so far name the format; they only call the event the World Championship.
Bloodlines was originally due out on July 15, 2005, but its street date slipped to August 12. Under Decipher's tournament legality policy, this meant Bloodlines was not legal on Day 1 (Thursday, August 18) but was legal on Days 2 and 3[1]. To make up for the short notice, every player pre-qualified for Day 2 who attended GenCon Indy was given a Bloodlines booster display and one of each Bloodlines starter deck at the Decipher booth on the Thursday[1].
Results[edit]
- World Champion: Kyle George, playing a Dwarf / Southron archery deck ("Untitled")[4]
- Runner-up: Lee Clarke ("LCJK")[4][3]
DGMA published 15 of the 16 Day 3 decklists, including the champion's and the runner-up's[4]; they were reposted on The Last Homely House in 2022[2]. DGMA's page spells the runner-up "Lee Clark"; Decipher's other announcements and his own articles use "Lee Clarke".
