Worlds 2007

From LOTR-TCG Wiki

Worlds 2007 was the sixth and last World Championship for the Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game held under Decipher. It took place after Decipher, New Line Cinema and the Saul Zaentz Company had announced on May 22, 2007 that the game would end with Treachery & Deceit and the all-foil Ages End set[1]. Vince Accetturo and Chris Thompson are recorded as co-champions[2].

Background[edit]

No announcement, schedule, coverage or decklist for this event has been found in the Wayback Machine, on the Decipher message boards (archived until June 2007), on CobraCards or on The Last Homely House. Its date, venue and format are unknown.

By community recollection, the event was a last hurrah, probably organised by one of the last Decipher employees still working on the game. The two finalists, Vince Accetturo and Chris Thompson, were on the same team, and are said to have agreed to split the prizes between them rather than play the final; with the state Decipher (let alone the DGMA) was in by then, nobody was in a position to object[2].
