Rulings[edit]

If Gollum kills a companion in a skirmish, the Free Peoples player must assign threat wounds before Gollum's ability adds a threat. This is because assigning threat wounds after a companion is killed is mandatory, and Gollum's ability is optional. In particular, if Gollum kills a companion while there are threats equal to the number of companions, those threats will no longer be there when his ability resolves, and so you may add a threat.
