Revision 1 · Player's Council · 2021-05-07 Collection Info Title Úlairë Nertëa Subtitle Messenger of Dol Guldur Unique Yes Collectible No Set 1 - The Fellowship of the Ring Rarity U - Uncommon Card Number 234 Language EN - English Revision 1 (Player's Council) Release Date 2021-05-07 Notes Lists: MXL. If two or more minions are played, the Shadow player decides in what order those minions are played. Decipher Notes: The special ability of this card has no cultural enforcement. This makes him too accessible to non-Ringwraith swarm decks. His ability also empowers the swarm by triggering the "best option" swarm minions repeatedly. There's not a great option available to nerf Nertea without entirely eliminating his ability to integrate with multicultural Swarms of any flavor. Even just restricting his ability to Ringwraith minions, which would integrate with later sets, means that the Free Peoples player is doomed to see Morgul Brute (7R188) and Morgul Destroyer (7U190) over and over. Nertea is thus currently in an overly-nerfed state that is only slightly better than its banned form. If you think you can crack the code, let us know! Strategy

Ulaire Nertea, Messenger of Dol Guldur, like Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Dol Guldur, acts as a crowd control minion in Fellowship of the Ring Block. With the ability to play a minion from the discard pile for each companion over 4, Ulaire Nertea could potentially play up to 5 minions from discard. Ulaire Nertea's game text is not specific to Nazgul or even [Wraith] minions; Ulaire Nertea's lack of cultural enforcement makes him a powerful addition to any swarm-style deck, like [Moria].

Ulaire Nertea, Messenger of Dol Guldur was added to the X-List with the introduction of the Two Towers set. The Nazgul was somewhat replaced by Orc Insurgent in Ents of Fangorn set--a minion without cultural enforcement.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strong Versus...

• Best when played with swarm decks
