Strategy[edit]
Gameplay Strategy[edit]
Aragorn, Wingfoot, like his fellow orc-hunters Gimli, Lockbearer (4R48) and Legolas, Dauntless Hunter (4R73) , has an ability which spots unbound hobbits in order to provide a bonus to the Fellowship. Aragorn's ability synergizes particularly well with the "disappearing hobbits" strategy employed by Merry, Learned Guide (4C310) and Pippin, Woolly-footed Rascal (4C314) : Merry and Pippin can troll your opponent's strongest minions (through their own game text, with Escape (4R300) , and with various stealth events like Swiftly and Softly (4C321) and Warmed Up a Bit (4C322) ); Aragorn can bully a weak minion during the skirmish phase (preferably armed with Ranger’s Sword (1U112) ); and then in the regroup phase, with your hobbits brought back to full number by Knocked on the Head (4C308) , Aragorn can directly wound the stronger minions who have remained. Regroup phase wounding can be amplified by Sméagol, Old Noser (5C28) , who can be included in the starting fellowship with relative ease.
Your opponent can skip around the regroup phase wounding by choosing to hold off on playing minions until (and unless) you've moved on to a second site in a given turn. But of course, this has its own drawbacks for your opponent. If you choose to move on, you still have all of your stealth events in hand, and a Merry and Pippin who haven't yet had to put in the work of disappearing. If you choose not to move on, your opponent might just be left with a hand full of unused shadow cards.
