Strategy

Frodo, Little Master is a slightly-modified reprint of Frodo, Courteous Halfling (4R301) , and a fairly generic version of Frodo overall. In formats where Courteous Halfling is disallowed (i.e. Standard), he's a moderately-unreliable defense against Shadow discard and mill decks. However, because he can't defend against discard or mill in your opponent's Free Peoples deck, and his game text is so easily shut off simply by generating a few threats, he's rarely played. An exception to this rule would be if your fellowship is less than four companions, therefore preventing you from having four threats. With this in mind, he works well with Aragorn, Well-traveled Guide (19P12) .

Frodo, Courteous Halfling (4R301) is generally stronger, chiefly because Courteous Halfling's game text is much harder to deactivate. The rest of the differences between the two cards are negligible. Relatively few cards target Courteous Halfling's Frodo signet, but those cards that exist are stronger and more popular than cards that target Little Master's Fellowship keyword. Of the latter, Rabbit Stew (19P31) is the most useful.

• Cards that target the Fellowship keyword. They are That’s Two! (19P4) , Strength in My Blood (19P15) , and Rabbit Stew (19P31) . Rabbit Stew is the most useful of these.
• All versions of Frodo benefit from The One Ring, The Great Ring (19P1) , to use his relatively high resistance to make up for his low strength.
• Decks that run him and Aragorn, Well-traveled Guide (19P12) , as his text will always be active.

• Shadow decks that discard or mill

Weak Versus...

• This is a fairly generic version of Frodo.
• Shadow strategies that stack threats. Common cards include Úlairë Lemenya, Eternally Threatening (15R185) , Úlairë Cantëa, Faster Than Winds (7R211) , Rallying Call (10U47) , Fat One Wants It (7R57) , and Captured by the Ring (7C53)
