Restore

From LOTR-TCG Wiki

Restore (with its sister verb Hinder) is a mechanic introduced by the Player's Council in set V3, The Pelennor Fields. After a card has been hindered it is flipped face down and does not interact with the game, but various effects will permit you to restore that card to play, flipping it back face-up.

Whenever a player Reconciles their hand, they automatically restore all of their hindered cards. As a result, hindered Shadow cards are effectively only hindered until the end of the Regroup phase, while Free Peoples cards are effectively hindered until the end of the turn.

Rules Entries[edit]

.

  1. When a hindered card is restored, flip it back face up (or otherwise return it to its original orientation) and it immediately returns to activity.
  1. Restoring a card does not count as the card "being played".
    • Shelob, Her Ladyship (10R23) , stings a companion upon being played. But after being hindered and restored, she is not being played again and so does not sting a second companion.

  1. When multiple cards are restored, they are all restored simultaneously.
  1. You cannot restore a card unless it is already hindered. If you attempt to restore a non-hindered card, it does nothing (and if that restore action was a cost, it fails to fulfill the cost).
  1. When a card is specifying a target for a restore action, it may specify traits that are normally not spottable due to being hindered. When doing so, only consider the traits printed on that card, not any keywords or other traits granted by game text or other card effects.
    • You can "restore an Orc" or "restore a companion", even though other actions would not be able to interact with that hindered card using "discard an Orc" or "spot a companion".

    • When restoring a "minion with ambush", you can select a Southron Scout (4C252) , but you cannot select a Southron Explorer (4U250) who would receive ambush from Desert Wind Stalker (V3_49) ; until the Explorer is restored it is not yet a valid target for the Stalker's effect.
