Strategy

Sturdy Stock is rarely played. Outside of Hunters Block, there are many better and more-consistent Dwarven pump events, particularly Dwarf-lords (13U4) , Awkward Moment (13C2) , Battle Tested (7U3) , and Honed (8C6) . All of these cards give a higher base bonus, and give more benefit under circumstances you can control rather than relying on your opponent to be playing a swarm of Hunter minions. In Hunter's Block play, you're unlikely to be playing a dwarf-specific pump event anyway because there are only three dwarfs in the whole format: Glóin, Son of Groin (15R6) , Thorin III, Stonehelm (17R6) , and three versions of Gimli. Even then, Axe-work (17U5) is probably more consistent, since it always gives at least +2 strength.
