Strategy

Gameplay Strategy

Dunlending Elder is one of Dunland's strongest minions, provided you have two sites under your belt. Once you have the sites, he can easily wreak havoc with his 12 strength, fierce, and damage bonus. Add War Club (4U36) to the equation and you discard two possessions every time you win. Dunlending Elder has only one vitality though, so he is vulnerable to directed wounding such as Power According to His Stature (1R308) or Legolas, Greenleaf (1R50) , though Hides (4R19) can help with this.

Deckbuilding Strategy

Dunlending Elder is the main power minion in most Dunland strategies. However, he is useless without two sites, so it is usually good to recur him with Constantly Threatening (4R6) or Ready to Fall (6R7) . He also works well with Saruman, Rabble-rouser (4R33) . He is an excellent minion against choke, due to his good cost/potential strength ratio. However, fellowships like Gondor Tanks and Ents will not heed Dunlending Elder much.
