Strategy[edit]
Alatar Deceived, along with Pallando Deceived and Radagast Deceived make up the three wizard conditions of Bloodlines. Alatar Deceived usually only fights in fierce skirmishes due to the text triggering after the Assignment phase, though his innate damage + 1 bonus helps to make up for this. Combined with Throne of Isengard or Men Will Fall, Alatar Deceived makes for a deadly minion.
Bear in mind it is triggered by Free Peoples wizards as well as by Pallando Deceived and Saruman. A Dark Shape Sprang allows Alatar Deceived to participate in both skirmishes if Gollum loses to Gandalf or Radagast.
Strengths and Weaknesses[edit]
Strong Versus...[edit]
- Fellowships containing a Free Peoples Wizard (Gandalf or Radagast).
- Wounding Fellowships.
- Choke Fellowships.
Weak Versus...[edit]
- Minion discard (Sent Back; Bearer of Council; Diversion; Destined Guide)
- Elven skirmish event decks (Can be overwhelmed)
- Heavy Condition discard decks.
Rulings[edit]
If this card becomes a minion during a normal skirmish phase, it will not be assigned until the fierce assignment phase, and so will only participate in fierce skirmishes. If this card becomes a minion during a fierce skirmish phase, it will never get a chance to be assigned.
