Strategy[edit]
With a single strength pumping skirmish event (Enduring Evil) in Fellowship Block, Sauron culture relies on skirmish special abilities built into minions, possessions, and conditions. Strength Born of Fear provides a strength +1 boost for the removal of [3], a hefty price considering the same bonus via Orc Scimitar costs [1]. Unlike Orc Scimitar, Strength Born of Fear does not have a limit to the bonus provided, besides access to twilight. Additionally, as a condition played to the support area, Strength Born of Fear is somewhat constant, unless discarded by the Free Peoples player (or a Shadow action such as Orc Warrior). Additionally, this condition is not unique so it can benefit the Orc Butcher game text. Strength Born of Fear can work well with cards that add extra twilight, such as I'd Make You Squeak, or Tower of Orthanc in a multi-cultural shadow.
The Sauron culture did not receive another skirmish pump event until the Eye of Barad-Dur in the Battle of Helms Deep expansion, and heavily rely on skirmish special abilities (Rank and File, Flames Within) overall.
Strengths and Weaknesses[edit]
Strong Versus...[edit]
- Expensive Free Peoples skirmish events (Mysterious Wizard, Sword-Wall)
- Fellowships that add post-shadow-phase twilight (Gandalf, The White Wizard etc.)
- Is a Condition-based strength pump will not clog hand
- Non-unique condition without a spotting requirement to play, benefiting Orc Butcher
Weak Versus...[edit]
- Fellowships that do not make large amounts of twilight
- Choke
- Free events, such as Swordsman of the Northern Kingdom, Arwen's Fate or Axe Strike
