Strategy
Stout and Sturdy may not seem to offer much besides some potential hand-clogging, but the event can be a potential life-saver, particularly in a Hobbit-based deck. The card provides natural synergy with some of the strongest Hobbit companions, such as Sam, Proper Poet or Merry, Friend to Sam. Additionally, the card can target allies, allowing your Bounder to exert in multiple skirmishes. Because this event can be played during the maneuver or skirmish phase, it is less susceptible to hand clog.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strong Versus...
- Stout and Sturdy provides natural synergy with Hobbits that exert for actions, particularly in the maneuver or skirmish phases. Sam, Proper Poet can become an additional defender or Merry, Friend to Sam could possibly exert an additional time for his skirmish action.
- Stout and Sturdy provides a bit of protection against maneuver phase or skirmish phase wounding, such as from Hate or Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul.
- Stout and Sturdy can be used on Hobbit allies, allowing for Bounder to exert to protect in multiple skirmishes or Melilot Brandybuck, Merry Dancer to use her response action multiple times.
Weak Versus...
- Like most events, this is most susceptible to hand clog or being discarded by an opposing player before use.
