General Strategy

Essentially the Two Towers version of Hobbit Intuition, Severed His Bonds's primary use is to cancel a Hobbit's skirmish between sites 1T and 4T. Like its predecessor, it is more useful in later sites (and other sitepaths) than its sister event Swiftly and Softly, which cancels skirmishes up to site 5T (one of the most dangerous sites for the Fellowship).

Bounder tends to be the standard for keeping Hobbit from being overwhelmed, but there are multiple methods available to Shadow players for dealing with troublesome allies and the Wargs released in The Two Towers stop Bounder in his tracks. While there are very few practical ways to cancel a Free People's event, it must be held in hand until needed rather than waiting in the support area to be used. Since Bounder is forbidden altogether in Towers Block, Severed His Bonds is the best skirmish protection for the Ringbearer in that format.
