General Strategy

Primarily useful for [isengard] trackers that are stronger in fierce skirmishes (Uruk Plains Runner, Uruk Chaser, Uruk Runner), as this card allows them to avoid their first skirmish, where they are weakest. It can also be used to preserve [isengard] trackers so that they are still there during the Regroup phase (Especially Uruk Scout, the only [isengard] tracker who isn't fierce), which allows them to safely use regroup effects like Attack on Helm's Deep, or be a nuisance should the Free Peoples player make a double move. Get Back can also be useful for supporting Ugluk, Servant of Saruman, as it prevents the Free Peoples from killing weaker trackers via skirmishes prior to Ugluk's own skirmish.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strong Versus...

  • Strong companions

Weak Versus...

  • Archery and other non-skirmish wounding
  • Cost-increasing effects, such as those of Legolas, Dauntless Hunter or Connected by Fate (Though these can be countered by Saruman's Ambition)

Rules and Clarifications

  • This card only affects the assignment phase it is played in, so a fierce minion will only be prevented from fighting in one of its skirmishes by this event, unless two copies are played.
