| Each Deluxe Starter Set came in 1 of 3 kinds, each one based around the symbol and colors of a particular [[Culture]]. For FOTR the variants were {{C|Shire}}, {{C|Gandalf}}, and {{C|Sauron}}, and for TTT they were {{C|Rohan}}, {{C|Elven}}, and {{C|Isengard}}. The packaging for each set revealed the coloring on the sides, which meant that one could make an informed choice about which set to purchase.
