General Strategy

An fringe card in the [Moria] meta, What Is This New Devilry does not fit in with the standard skill set of the culture. With most [Moria] Orcs having just one vitality, What Is This New Devilry plays better with minions that are more likely to be seen in sealed--Goblin Patrol Group or Goblin Flankers. That said, with Goblin Armory and Goblin Runner, [Moria] culture has much better ways of producing twilight and, when the Shadow support area is set up, the free peoples player is likely to not worry about the additional cost to playing a companion. This card only works on Fellowship block site paths.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strong Versus...

  • Brutal effect with Goblin Domain
  • Non-unique condition with a "stackable" effect--two copies would make a companion played cost an additional [4] twilight

Weak Versus...

  • High-cost condition, [2] twilight with an exertion--just a few [Moria] Orcs are capable of the exertion cost
  • This card does not have an effect outside of Fellowship Block
