Pippin can be summoned first and then exerted to fetch Merry, since Pippin rarely uses vitality for anything else. With Hobbit of Some Intelligence*, he can also remove the previous exertion or a starting burden. Like Green Dragon Inn*, Farmer Maggot's Fields can sometimes be a useful site 1 because it denies opponents the chance to use more popular sites, like The Prancing Pony*.
