| Sudden Strike is one of the strongest searching tools in the game. Adding to the Gollum culture's already popular and splashable recursion kit of Evil-Smelling Fens, Web, Captured by the Ring, and any version or versions of Gollum, Sudden Strike gives a new dimension to splashing Gollum.
| |
| |
| In the popular Ninja Gollum strategy in Expanded and Standard, Sudden Strike can be used very effectively. It can be used to play Gollum (if your opponent plays Smeagol) then fetch Web to play Gollum consistently, or it can play Shelob and grab Web. Alternatively, you can fetch a splashed hate minion, such as Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul, Grima, Wormtongue, or Southron Leader to counter whatever your opponent is doing.
| |
| |
| Sudden Strike is also used in several other strategies such as Corsairs and Expanded Threat Nazgul. In Corsairs, Gollum, Plotting Deciever is used alongside Corsair War Galley and is played continously to use cards like Evil-Smelling Fens and Sudden Strike to recur or fetch either a choice Corsair or a hate minion, much like its use in Ninja Gollum. In Threat Nazgul, Sudden Strike is used with Gollum, Threatening Guide to fetch key Nazgûl and hate minions, all the while providing threats to fuel the strategy.

| The quirkiest (and one of the strongest) Shadow sides in Expanded is designed around Sudden Strike and Gollum. It utilizes cards like Gollum, Her Sneak, Captured by the Ring, and Web to replay Gollum, then searches with Sudden Strike and recurs with Evil-Smelling Fens to grab the best minions for the occasion.
