Strategy

This version of Frodo is useful in any [shire] ally intensive deck, or even decks with just a few select [shire] allies. His ability is especially useful for Bounder, allowing him to prevent multiple overwhelms, and it can also help either version of Bilbo. Using this Frodo can essentially provide free healing when used with The Gaffer, SF; Rosie Cotton, HL or Farmer Maggot, CoR, and saves you having to use Hobbit Party Guest to heal your allies (Although if you have many allies, some Hobbit Party Guests might still be useful). His ability is also more versatile than that of Hobbiton Party Guest, who cannot heal Bounder.

He can even be seen in Gandalf-supported decks with no allies, due to the simple addition of a Gandalf signet for TMAYOD (a necessity in Gandalf-Dwarves TMAYOD fellowships, with The Grey Wizard and Son of Gloin). The aforementioned signet enables a single active copy of Gandalf's Wisdom to replace most of his counterpart Reluctant Adventurer's choking advantages.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strong Versus...

  • Strength based shadows (With Bounder)
  • Wounding/Archery shadows (With The Gaffer, SF or Farmer Maggot, CoR)

Weak Versus...

  • Anti-ally cards (Tower Assassin, Fear, Their Power is in Terror*, Ulaire Attea, The Easterling)
  • Anduin Confluence (if not using Thror's Map)
