+Followers (and the '''Aid''' keyword) were introduced in set 15, [[The Hunters]]. They were an attempt to revisit the concept of faraway helpers that was first explored with [[Ally|Allies]] in the first two blocks of the game. The primary balance issue with allies was that strong abilities would be paid for once and used indefinitely, so a repeated upkeep Aid cost made balancing followers much more fine-grained.
